After 44 years of waiting, Ashley Barty of Australia won the Australian Open title

Ashley Barty of Australia ended her 44-year wait to win the Australian Open, Australia's home title, by winning the title.

In the women's singles final of the first Grand Slam tennis tournament of the year played in Melbourne, the host country's world number one Ashley Barty faced the American Daniele Collins.

On the home court, Barty dominated the American opponent from the start, winning the first set 3-6, the second set was thrilling, and Daniele Neck came back, scoring the first three points, but Ashley lost 6-7 at the tiebreaker. Won the competition.

Ashley Barty is the Australian player to win the Australian Open final after 44 years. Prior to that, the award was won by Christine O'Neill of Australia in 1978.
